In the upcoming period, Slovakia should focus on changes in tax policy, continue to implement its Recovery and Resilience Plan and complete preparations for the 2021-2027 programme period, according to recommendations published by the European Commission (EC) on Monday. "The European Commission has come up with three recommendations -- in the area of taxation; making the tax mix more effective, mainly environmental tax; and strengthening tax discipline," head of the EC Representation in Slovakia Vladimir Sucha said. The recommendations in the field of energy are very serious. Slovakia should reduce its overall dependence on fossil fuels, especially natural gas. At the same time, it should diversify imports and speed up the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES).
