Real GDP growth in Slovakia will reach 4.9 percent this year, which is slightly more than expected in the spring, and growth should even accelerate to 5.3 percent in 2022, according to the Summer 2021 Economic Forecast released by the European Commission (EC) on Wednesday. Following a fall in GDP of 2 percent in the first quarter of this year as a result of coronavirus-related restrictions, the commission expects Slovakia's real GDP growth to reach 2.0 percent in the second quarter of this year and 3.3 percent in the third quarter. This reflects a more significant recovery of short-term indicators than originally expected.
