Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission (EC) president, said after a meeting with the Polish prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, that the EU wants to see "a strong economic recovery" in both Poland and the EU. She made the point in a Twitter message posted after the meeting on Friday, but in the second sentence she referred to the ongoing rule-of-law conflict between Brussels and Warsaw, saying "Investment & reforms are key." Poland has been embroiled in a protracted dispute with the EU over the country's judicial reforms which Brussels says infringe upon European rule-of-law principles.
