The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has paid Poland 1 billion euros to help the country protect jobs and maintain employment, as well as granting money to Italy and Spain, countries hit most hard by the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. EC President Ursula von der Leyen said on Twitter that "it's just the start," adding that Poland will receive a total of 11.2 billion euros from SURE including for financing mechanisms of reduced working time.
