EC asks CJEU to suspend Polish judicial disciplinary body

January 15th, 2020

The existence of a disciplinary chamber for judges in Poland carries the risk of irreversible damage to judges, who could find themselves dependent on its decisions, EC spokesperson Christian Wigand said on Wednesday in Brussels. Wigand's words came in the wake of the EC's Tuesday decision to ask the EU Court of Justice (CJEU) for interim measures leading to the suspension of the disciplinary chamber.
