EC approves Polish pandemic aid scheme

The European Commission on Friday approved a broad Polish aid programme for enterprises affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The EUR 1.1 billion programme, which is designed to support a number of business sectors including retail, tourism and entertainment, was passed by the Commission as temporary state aid. he Polish scheme will provide companies, regardless of size, with staff wage subsidies and direct financial grants. It can also suspend social security payments for companies which have experienced a drop in business of at least 40 percent.
