February 11th, 2022
The output of the construction sector in 2021 lagged even behind 2020 and slumped further from pre-pandemic levels, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. The most pronounced drop was recorded in new construction work, with higher output seen only in repairs and maintenance. Large commissions abroad were the only element to cushion the drop from what would have otherwise been even more adverse figures. Construction output in 2021 stood at 5.4 billion euros, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1 percent.
