Up to eleven members of the Slovak military police will possibly be able to join the EUNAVFOR MED Irini operation for six months from March 2022, according to a defence ministry proposal presented for comments in recent days. They will serve as part of an intervention team on a vessel under a German flag. According to the current mandate, only five members of the Slovak military can serve in the operation. The operation was launched on March 31, 2020 and extended to March 31, 2023. Its core task is the implementation of the UN arms embargo on Libya through the use of aerial, satellite and maritime assets.
