The Defence Ministry is ready to defend in court and possibly at international institutions against the half-billion-crown fine imposed by the Anti-Trust Office (UOHS) for a flawed purchase of military helicopters from the US company Bell, Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar said on Wednesday. Metnar attended the lower house defence committee meeting today. Last week, the UOHS fined the Defence Ministry 550 million crowns for flaws in the 17 billion crown purchase of helicopters. The UOHS blamed the ministry for buying the vehicles before the objection raised by the Italian firm Leonardo was dealt with. The company turned to the European Commission.
