Czechs may step up support for Malian forces against terrorism

The Czech Republic is considering providing further support for the Malian armed forces in the fight against terrorist groups in the region, Defence Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek told journalists today. At present, Czech troops are operating in Mali in an EU training mission and a United Nations mission. The French paper Le Monde said on Monday that the Czech Republic, along with other countries, might join the operations of special forces in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
