May 4th, 2022

The Czech Republic is prepared to support the ban on Russian oil imports to the European Union if it gets a postponement by two to three years until the oil pipelines capacity is increased, PM Petr Fiala told reporters after his cabinet's meeting today. "We need solidarity of European countries for Europe to get rid of its energy dependence on Russia," Fiala said. The European Commission (EC) proposed a complete ban on the imports of Russian oil to the EU by the year's end. All EU member state must approve the sanctions unanimously to take effect.
