Czechia, other five states, should ratify Istanbul Convention-EP

MEPs called on the Czech Republic and another five EU member states to immediately ratify the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women in a debate on this issue in the European Parliament (EP) today. Many MEPs are of the view that it is not needed to wait for all member states to approve the convention as it may be approved on the EU level by a qualified majority. Besides Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia and Lithuania have not ratified the convention either.
