Laboratories revealed 10,883 new COVID-19 cases in Czechia on Tuesday, while a week ago the number of newly confirmed infections was about 3,100 higher, and Czech hospitals treated 8,402 COVID patients, including 1,890 in serious condition, the Health Ministry's latest data show. Almost 1.5 million people have tested positive in the country with 10.7 million inhabitants since the epidemic outbreak in March 2020, and nearly 1.3 million of them have recovered. The total death toll is 25,258 and 1,000 people fell victim to the disease in less than a week recently. Czechia has the highest COVID death toll per population in the European Union.
