Czech villages submit petition against Polish mine extension

November 12th, 2019

Representatives of Uhelna and Vaclavice villages in the Liberec Region, north Bohemia, submitted a petition with some 700 signatures against the planned extension of the Polish Turow lignite mine near the Czech border to Environment Minister Richard Brabec on Tuesday. The petitioners primarily fear that the inhabitants of local villages will be short of drinking water due to extensive mining.
