The Czech state wants to keep operating the obsolete Pegas communication network for the Integrated Rescue System (IZS), the lifespan of which was to expire this year, and plans to upgrade it to buy time for an alternative solution, news portal iROZHLAS.cz has reported. The government Security Council approved this procedure in early November. The current system, built in 1995-2003, works as a handheld transceiver network supported by the Tetrapol technology. It does not enable the transmission of a huge data volume, such as videos and maps. The Interior Ministry wanted to secure a high-speed data transmission, but this alternative is not on the agenda anymore.
