Czech senators on Tuesday rejected the Defence Ministry's suggestion that the government or the prime minister's powers be reinforced in case the parliament were unable to gather during a period of crisis, and said such a change can never make it through the opposition-controlled Senate. The Defence Ministry, which has come up with the idea amid the coronavirus crisis, is headed by Lubomir Metnar, a minister for PM Andrej Babis's senior government ANO movement.
