Czech Senate wants Ukraine to be granted EU candidate country status

The Czech Senate has called on the European Union states to grant EU candidate country status to Ukraine at the upcoming summit of EU leaders, the senators agreed in accordance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's video appeal addressed to the Czech parliament on Wednesday. According to Zelenskiy, the step would enhance the European community and reflect the European ideas and values, which Ukraine is currently defending against the Russian aggression. The EU summit is scheduled for June 22-23.
