Three kinds of deep-sea fish have colour vision in the dark depths thanks to multiple rod photo receptors on their retina, though vertebrates were generally thought to have rods for monochrome vision and cones for colour vision, Zuzana Musilova, from Charles University, has told CTK. Musilova's international research team focuses on the vision of fish. Its results were published in the Science magazine this month.
