Czech schools seek talks with PM on pay rise

September 30th, 2019

The Czech school employees' trade unions seek negotiations over details of a teachers' pay rise planned for January with Prime Minister Andrej Babis and have requested a meeting, their head Frantisek Dobsik told CTK on Monday. The unions declined to comment on a new proposal by Education Minister Robert Plaga, under which all teachers' base salaries would rise by 2,700 crowns, rather than the promised 2,250 crowns, while the remaining 900 crowns on average would go to their bonuses.
