Czech Republic's severe Covid cases up on Sunday, infection spread slows

March 8th, 2021

The Czech Republic saw 3,923 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, 660 less than a week ago, which shows the infection spread slowing down, but there were 1,728 Covid patients in a serious condition in hospitals, 155 more than on the previous Sunday, data from the Health Ministry show. The positive test rate has decreased somewhat. The total number of people hospitalised with Covid-19 stood at 7,979, almost 500 more than a week ago. The number of those hospitalised has risen steeply in recent weeks. In late January, it was still about 5,500.
