February 14th, 2022
The Czech Republic has registered over 3.4 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020 and the latest 100,000 new confirmed cases occurred over five days. The pace of the pandemic rose sharply in the autumn of 2020, at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 and in March 2021, with the daily number of new cases regularly exceeding 20,000 last November. Cases declined again from early December, but have been soaring and hitting new records of late in connection with the spread of Omicron, the more contagious variant of coronavirus.
