The Czech Republic has considerably improved its position in the media freedom assessment in which it now ranks 20th out of the 180 monitored countries as against 40th last year, the annual report of the Reporters without Borders (RSF) organisation released on Tuesday shows. Neighbouring Slovakia also ranks better now, being the 27th, eight positions better than last year. According to the 2022 World Press Freedom Index, media enjoys the strongest freedom in the Nordic countries, such as Norway, Denmark and Sweden. In contrast, authoritarian countries, such as China, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Iran, Eritrea and North Korea (180th), are assessed as the worst in this respect.
