Czech president signs stricter punishment for animal abuse

Animal maltreatment and the operation of puppy mills will be punished by six rather than five years in prison, while courts may impose up to ten years behind bars for breeding animals in extremely unsuitable conditions threatening their lives, under a bill signed by President Milos Zeman into law on Thursday.
