Czech president promotes seven generals, ignores Koudelka

President Milos Zeman promoted seven senior soldiers, firefighters and police officers to the rank of general on the state holiday on Monday, but he refused to promote civilian counter-intelligence service (BIS) chief Michal Koudelka, although he was proposed for the fourth time to the rank. Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who proposed Koudelka, said he regretted Zeman's decision.
