The current version of the Czech-Polish agreement on the Turow lignite mine is in accordance with neither Czech nor EU legislation, the Czech platform Together for water (Spolecne pro vodu), which associates environmental and legal experts and civic groups, says in its press release today. Czech and European laws do not enable a country to approve environmental damage on its own territory, it said. The Czech Environment Ministry is obliged to launch proceedings on environmental damage at the European Commission, but it has not done yet, the platform said.
