Czech mother in Norway not giving up fight for her sons

May 18th, 2021

Eva Michalakova, from whom Norwegian authorities took her two sons and moved them to temporary foster care ten years ago, keeps fighting for her children and the European Court of Human Rights has been dealing with her case, she said in an interview with CTK. Michalakova said she was unable to say when the Strasbourg court could issue a decision in the case. She said she had not seen her sons for six years. The Norwegian child welfare service Barnevernet decided on May 18, 2011 that Denis, now 16, and David, now 12, would be taken away from their Czech parents on suspicion of abuse, neglect and maltreatment. After their marriage, Michal and Eva Michalaks settled in Norway in 2005. The husband had lived there even before the marriage. Michalakova said Czech politicians were trying to deal with her case on an interstate level.
