Czech military tanks to be upgraded

June 17th, 2019

The Czech Defence Ministry will upgrade its 33 T-72M4CZ tanks and the VOP CZ state-run company is expected to upgrade them for 908 million crowns, Jakub Fajnor, from the ministry's press section, told CTK today. He said Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar (for ANO) would present the tank modernisation along with the planned purchase of two CASA C-295MW transport planes worth 2.3 billion crowns to the cabinet today. The Czech military now has four CASA aircraft. The ministry originally planned to buy two more only after 2022, but the Spanish aircraft producer offered to deliver the two CASAs earlier, for a lower price and with postponed payment.
