Czech govt vows to raise defence spending to 2 pc of GDP by 2025

January 7th, 2022

The Czech Republic will spend 2 percent of its GDP on defence by 2025, the government vowed in its policy statement released on its website on Friday. It also wants to establish a defence fund to finance the military. The government intends to present some amendments, including a change in the public procurement law and constitutional amendments thanks to which the government may be able to send soldiers abroad faster. "Given the worsening security environment, there is a need for investments in the defence capability of our nation," the government said in its policy statement.
