The government has approved a support scheme for Afghan interpreters and other collaborators of the Czech military mission within which they may be eligible for a financial support and apply for asylum, the defence ministry told CTK on Friday. Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar said the scheme is designed to take into account the challenging conditions of helpers' service and their individual preferences. It is not possible to disclose real numbers of interpreters nor give more details about the aid. However, the scheme does not pose a threat to the security of Czech citizens and complies with valid legislation, Metnar stressed.
