Czech bishops agree to begin beatification process of Stredonius

Czech bishops approved the launch of the beatification process of Jesuit priest Martin Streda (Stredonius) who contributed to the successful defence of Brno when the Swedish army sieged the city during Thirty Years' War in the mid-17th century, Brno bishop Vojtech Cirkle's spokeswoman said on Wednesday. Cirkle proposed the start of the process of Stredonius's beatification. Further steps in the process will be taken by the Jesuit Order. The diocese stage of the process may begin once it is approved in the Vatican.
