Czech activists occupy mine excavator, demand end of coal era

Eight Greenpeace activists climbed an excavator of the Vrsany lignite mine near Most on Wednesday, demanding the end of the coal era and shift to renewable energy sources, Greenpeace spokesman Lukas Hrabek said in a press release. This is not the first case of environmental activists occupying an excavator at the Vrsany lignite pit. Last year, several people from the Against Coal movement were protesting this way for almost three days.
