Covid spread accelerating again in Czech Republic

January 17th, 2022

The number of new Covid cases had been falling since early December, but are now on the rise again, largely due to the spread of the more contagious Omicron variant. Since the first outbreak in March 2020, laboratories have confirmed over 2.6 million cases of Covid-19. The pandemic began rapidly accelerating again in September 2020. The situation started worsening at the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021 as well as last March when the number of cases was increasing by over 10,000 a day. There were even days with more than 15,000 cases.
