COVID epidemic further accelerates on Wednesday, 2,403 new cases

August 18th, 2022

The COVID-19 epidemic accelerated in Czechia on Wednesday for the second day in a row, with 2,403 new cases being registered, about 200 more than a week ago, the number of tested samples having decreased but their positivity rate rising week-on-week, the Health Ministry's data show. Czechia has registered a total of 4.02 million cases of coronavirus since the epidemic outbreak in March 2020. The figure does not include the cases of repeated infection. There have been over 298,000 cases of suspected reinfection so far. A total of 40,687 patients with coronavirus have died.
