Courts to issue fines more often than prison sentences - govt.

Czech courts will be able to issue financial fines instead of short-term prison sentences more often after the Chamber of Deputies passed an amendment to the Criminal Code today. The amendment also added clauses that widen the possibilities of plea bargains so that they may be applied in the case of more serious crimes than before.
