Court decides Zeman must reassess not naming Fajt professor

July 20th, 2020

The Prague administrative court today decided that President Milos Zeman must deal again with his decision not to name art historian Jiri Fajt a professor. The court's reasoning is based on the fact that the President should not comment on the candidate's expert qualities or appropriateness for the position. The court recently decided similarly in the case of physicist Ivan Ostadal, a verdict against which Zeman filed a cassation complaint with the Supreme Administrative Court (NSS). Zeman's lawyer said the President will probably do the same in Fajt's case as well.
