Corporate bankruptcies up 44 pct m/m in May - daily

June 15th, 2020

Forty-nine companies went bankrupt in Poland in May 2020, up by 44 percent month on month, the daily Puls Biznesu reported on Monday. The reopening of new economic sectors and loosening the restrictions "is also reflected in the decisions of bankruptcy courts," according to the daily. "While in April, due to lockdown, the number of bankruptcies was unnaturally low (only 34), the situation began to change in May. The courts accelerated the pace of reviewing cases and declared the bankruptcy of 49 companies," Puls Biznesu wrote.
