Convicted ex-governor Rath asks for release on parole

Former regional governor and ex-minister for the Social Democrats (CSSD) David Rath has filed a request for conditional release on parole with the Brno Municipal Court after having served half of his seven-year prison sentence for corruption, court spokeswoman Petra Hovorkova told CTK on Monday. News portal Aktualne.cz was the first to report on Rath's request. Hovorkova said the court had received it on October 11. No public proceedings have been ordered in this matter yet and they are not likely to be held this week, she added.
