Conditions for free transport for Ukrainians changed due to frequent abuse

May 31st, 2022

The central crisis management team on Tuesday decided to change the conditions for free transport for Ukrainians in Slovakia due to frequent abuse of the system. Individuals who repeatedly leave and re-enter Slovakia from Ukraine will lose their right to free transport in the country. Such abuse was most common among Ukrainians who live in their homeland and commute to work in Slovakia. In line with the new rules, Ukrainian expatriates should be able to make use of basic free transport for five days after entering Slovakia and five days after obtaining temporary refuge in the country. The change will enter into force on July 1.
