Communists reluctant to support state of emergency extension

February 5th, 2021

Communist (KSCM) lawmaker Zdenek Ondracek, a member of the Czech Republic's Central Crisis Staff, on Friday said he will recommend to the party board that it should not support the government-sought further prolongation of the state of national emergency over the Covid epidemic. "The measures are useless, leading nowhere," he told the media. "If the government only knows a single measure, which means the limitation of people's mobility, this is a wrong decision," Ondracek said. "The catastrophic rhetoric will not help the government in the state of emergency and Health Minister Jan Blatny is also nervous because his own chair seems to be rocking," KSCM MP Jiri Dolejs said.
