Comenius University protests against "politicisation" of universities

The leadership and Academic Senate of Comenius University announced on Monday that they have both joined a protest against what they describe as the politicisation of universities via a new amendment to the University Act and the Education Ministry's funding policies towards universities pursued from January. "The gist of the financial policies is a further reduction in funding for public universities, which have been underfunded for a long time anyway," the two bodies said, adding that the latest moves were effectively subordinating universities to the Education Ministry.
