Civic Platform leader not to seek re-election

The current leader of Poland's main opposition party, the Civic Platform (PO), Grzegorz Schetyna, announced on Friday that he would not seek re-election. He said the former defence minister, Tomasz Siemoniak, was the best candidate for the post. "I am closing this stage, in which PO is in a much better state than in 2015 and 2016," Schetyna said.
