The mainstream Czech Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) will elect the successor to their outgoing leader Marek Vyborny, who assumed the post less than a year ago, at its national congress on January 25. Vyborny, 43, decided to resign for family reasons last autumn. At the March 2019 regular congress, party leader Pavel Belobradek (43) said he regretted the failed project of a coalition with the Mayors and Independents (STAN) before the 2017 general elections.
