Chief public health officer collapses during cabinet meeting

Czech chief public health officer Pavla Svrcinova collapsed during the online cabinet meeting on Tuesday and an ambulance had to go to the Health Ministry for her, news portal Seznam Zpravy has said. Prague rescue service spokeswoman Jana Postova told CTK that the rescuers drove to the place where the ministry has its seat and that they transported a woman aged around 58 to the General University Hospital. Svrcinova has been acting chief public health officer since mid-March. She replaced Jarmila Razova who was dismissed from the post. Under the law on public service, a public competition must be held for the post. Before this, Svrcinova headed the Moravia-Silesia regional public health office, from January 2020.
