Several indicators of the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary are steadily rising, the chief medical officer said on Thursday. Cecilia Muller told an online press conference of the central board coordinating measures against the pandemic that, like in many other European countries, the appearance of the UK variant had exacerbated virus transmissions. "We had 1,862 more registered infections yesterday, which while relatively slight, could herald a faster rate of increase if the more infectious UK mutation gains ground," she said, adding that measures to contain virus transmissions were still a top priority.
