Chief Medical Officer: Elective surgeries suspended from Friday

November 6th, 2020

Care for coronavirus patients must be further expanded, so elective surgeries are being postponed, Cecilia Muller, the chief medical officer, told an online press conference on Friday. Emergency operations and interventions that would delay harm to a patient's health, such as cancer and cardiovascular patients, will still be performed, she said. Muller insisted that Hungary is in the bottom third of European countries in terms of infections per million people, and "mid field" as regards the number of fatalities.
