The Regional State Attorney's Office in Hradec Kralove has charged eight people and one firm in the "Krkonose" case with subsidy fraud, harming the EU's financial interests, threatening the environment and abuse of power, the Novinky.cz portal has reported. The Hradec Kralove regional police previously said the case was connected with Pec pod Snezkou, east Bohemia, in Krkonose (Giant Mountains), the highest mountain range in the country, and with the Krkonose National Park (KRNAP) Administration. This is why it is dubbed "the Krkonose case."
