The former director of Cepro, the state-run fuel distribution company, Tomas Kadlec was sentenced to seven years in prison for tax evasion and breach of property management responsibilities by the Prague Supreme Court on Monday. In his unsuccessful appeal of the verdict, Kadlec argued that the courts had shifted the burden of evidence and wanted him to prove his innocence. A 500,000 crown fine is a part of the sentence that will prolong Kadlec's stay in prison by six months if left unpaid.
