Centre Pompidou director stands up for fired Czech gallery head

May 2nd, 2019

Bernard Blisten, the director of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, has joined a protest letter of world galleries and museums' heads against the dismissal of Jiri Fajt, the director of the National Gallery (NGP) in Prague, released on the Dresden gallery's website. Representatives of 12 world galleries and museums stood up for Fajt on the day of his dismissal. Culture Minister Antonin Stanek sacked Fajt and Michal Soukup, the head of the Art Museum Olomouc, north Moravia, before Easter, citing the loss of trust and economic and managerial errors.
