Slovakia must prepare for a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in order to cushion its impacts as much as possible, President Zuzana Caputova told TASR in an interview marking the end of her second year in office, noting that the consequences of the pandemic in the social and economic areas were "massive and will manifest themselves for a long time". In her opinion, vaccines against Covid-19 are the only way to avoid the worst-case scenario. "We've already dealt with initial problems concerning applications for inoculation and the distribution of vaccines, and we now need to expand the options for vaccination so that the elderly in particular won't have to travel to get jabs," Caputova said. "This entails mobile vaccination teams, the option of being vaccinated by a general practitioner or by an employer," she noted.
