Caputova highlights heroism in Dukla Pass battle

It is important to remember how easy it is to lose state and national freedom and how difficult it is to win them back, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova wrote on Facebook on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Battle of the Dukla Pass, also known as the Day of the Heroes of the Carpatho-Dukla Operation. "Let's not forget the heroism of those who showed us an insurmountable example of true and dedicated patriotism in the damp autumn of 1944; those who brought freedom over the Carpathians for future generations at the cost of enormous sacrifices, suffering and tough efforts," she wrote.
